Stockpools: Former 'Dragon's Den' Winner from BC Steams Ahead with New Business Venture
Stockpools.com Aims to Educate, Not Scare Off Would Be Investors
(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/30/12 -- Vancouver businessman Neil Currie and his partner cut a deal with infamous Dragon Kevin O'Leary in season four of the hit reality show. The deal eventually fell through but their company, Vantagewire.ca, an online real-time stock quote website, continues to thrive.
Currie, who hails from Abbotsford, BC, has forged ahead and developed another online business called Stockpools.com. It's a fantasy stock trading game where it's free to join and there's no risk whatsoever. Each week they give away a thousand dollars to the top performing investor; you could even win 25 grand in gold!
"This is for anybody to use, you could be the veteran trader or someone who wants to learn a little about how the stock market works," says Currie, "and understand the risks and rewards and that it isn't about losing your shirt or your house...we want to make it fun, it is fun!"
Stockpools lists 100 publically traded companies in ten different sectors and generates revenue by selling listings on their site to those companies.
"If what we do helps people get interested in the market then we've done our part to help buoy up investment in Canada," adds Currie. "However our objective is simply to educate and the players about the clients and provide a unique experience for the user."
