SGS-CSTC and GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies Unveil Shanghai Application Center for NDT
SGS’s answer to the market demand for quality control services in China is a new Non-Destructive-Testing Application Center in Shanghai equipped with the most technologically advanced NDT equipment by GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies

(firmenpresse) - To serve Chinese industrial clients, SGS-CSTC, a Chinese joint venture of the SGS Group, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company and GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies recently opened a new Non-Destructive Testing Application Center in Shanghai, China.
The Application Center is located in Kongqiao Industrial Zone in Pudong New Area of Shanghai, and is equipped with ultrasonic flaw detectors, eddy current flaw detectors, spot-welding detectors, x-ray real-time inspection systems and digital inspection systems, computed-radiography system, microfocus x-ray system and industrial CT system.
At the opening ceremony, Charlene Begley, President & CEO of GE Enterprise Solutions expressed her appreciation to SGS leaders for being a loyal customer and partner to GE, and she expressed her full confidence in GE’s NDT business prospects in China, and hoped the Application Center will set a good example for further cooperation between the two companies, for example by the upgrading of Chinese NDT standards.
NDT plays an important role in the quality control of welding and industrial parts, and safety assurance of pressure vessels and pipelines. It is used in a wide range of industries, including metallurgy, oil and gas, power generation, aerospace, and transportation.
In the past few years, the NDT businesses of both GE and SGS achieved remarkable growth in China.
