LGI Logistics Group International GmbH doubles volume of server assembly logistics
Böblingen, June, 2012 – Böblingen-based LGI Logistics Group International GmbH is taking on more server assembly work for Tech Data, one of the world's largest distributors of IT products, services and solutions. LGI has been configuring servers from two manufacturers for Tech Data since 2003. The additional business means that LGI is now handling the configuration for four well-known manufacturers leading to significant increase in the volume of servers assembled. The previous logistics volume has therefore more than doubled.

For LGI, the additional server business from Tech Data not only means a doubling of the volume, but also more value-adding work for two newly acquired server manufacturers. In addition to traditional warehousing, the company carries out hardware system integration, software loads and extensive hardware and software testing. Customs clearance and global distribution logistics round off the package of services. This project presented a particular challenge in that all the servers needed to be CTO – configured to order. All the orders from the customers are different. "Yet again, we benefited from our considerable processing capability and flexible operation," said Markus Ziegler, BU Manager Electronics at LGI. "Without them, we would not have been able to handle the additional server assembly in such a short time."
