Chartwells-Thomson Hospitality Awards $39,000 in Scholarships for CPS Students to Study Culinary Arts
Over $500,000 Awarded Since 2000
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 06/20/12 -- As part of its annual School-to-Work program, Chartwells-Thompson Hospitalitythe major food service provider for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has awarded six scholarships for $6,500 each to CPS students for continuing education in hospitality or culinary arts. Chartwells-Thompson has provided over $500,000 in scholarships to graduating students since it began working with CPS in 2000.
Scholarship selections were based on students' essays, their grade point averages, and letters of recommendation. This year's winners included: Anshaunti Hillery, Simeon Career Academy; Tyler Hutcherson, Hyde Park Academy; Passiyon Wyatt, Dunbar Career Academy; Priscilla Wise, Richards Career Academy; Elissa Williams, Harper High School and Angelica Ramirez, Prosser Career Academy.
According to Tyler Hutcherson, Hyde Park Academy graduate, "This scholarship will allow me to pursue my dream to become a pastry chef. The scholarship from Chartwells-Thompson will help me achieve my career goals."
