State-of-the-art MEMS-oscillators by DISCERA available at setron from now on
(PresseBox) - The German distributor for electronic components setron headquartered in Brunswick and DISCERA have signed an extensive franchise agreement about the distribution of MEMS oscillators by the American manufacturer.
In this way, setron drive their portfolio extension further by adding edge-cutting timing chips to their product range. The company DISCERA based in San Jose (California) was founded in 2001, meanwhile having gained a reputation as a manufacturer of timing solutions on the basis of silicon MEMS technology. The American manufacturer holds more than 28 patents on key technologies and on the implementation of the innovative CMOS pulse generators. PureSilicon(TM) MEMS oscillators convince due to their compact dimensions, high robustness and ultimate reliability in comparison to quartz oscillators. Hence, they are particularly suitable for low power designs, industrial as well as military applications.
"We appreciate this enrichment of our product line by excellent solutions for pulse generation. Thus, on top of the common quartz oscillators we can offer products that satisfy the requirements of many customers regarding vibration, shock and temperature resistance. The MEMS-Technology facilitates programming and supplying samples of the required frequency within minutes", says Bernd Riemann, Director Application & Technical Marketing at setron.
setron offers additional support for programming customized frequencies for sample or small quantities. DISCERA's TIMEFLASH frequency programming kit offers the design engineer a Windows-based USB-programming device. It supports interface technologies such as CMOS, LVPECL, LVDS and HCL, preserving all parameters of the fixed-programmed products.
In a nutshell, MEMS oscillators offer following advantages as opposed to common pulse generators: smaller dimensions, not prone to shock and vibration, faster availability due to programming and in many applications less costly than comparable quartz-based oscillators.
