Urban Airship and Kinvey Integration Streamlines Data-Driven Mobile App Engagement
Mobile Apps Can Trigger Push Messaging Based on Business Rules and Changes in Backend or Third-Party Data

(firmenpresse) - PORTLAND, OR and CAMBRIDGE, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/28/12 -- Urban Airship, the leading platform provider for high-performance push messaging, and Kinvey, the leading Backend-as-a-Service mobile platform, today announced an expanded partnership and unveiled a seamless integration that enables developers to easily build a new class of push-enabled applications for native operating systems and the mobile web. Kinvey, which makes it easy for developers to set up, operate and manage scalable cloud backends for mobile, tablet and web applications, has integrated its API and libraries with Urban Airship's, to enable sending push notifications to devices running on iOS and Android through a single interface and SDK.
Kinvey has also expanded its partnership with Urban Airship by moving to its Helium messaging delivery platform, which offers very high throughput and enterprise-class SLAs, and reaches the broadest range of Android devices, including Nook and Kindle Fire.
Also with today's announcement, Kinvey unveiled a private beta solution that melds the companies' best-of-breed mobile backend and high-performance push messaging services with a variety of external cloud and legacy data sources. Through Kinvey's open "Service Links," mobile apps can connect to third-party data sources -- inside or outside enterprise firewalls -- and use business logic to trigger push notifications based on data changing in any backend. An example use case of this new capability is tying into inventory and fulfillment systems and mapping APIs to notify drivers of new pickups, changing schedules or required rest periods.
"Together, Urban Airship and Kinvey remove the complexity of developing sophisticated cross-platform mobile apps," said Christopher Dean, chief revenue officer, Urban Airship. "The latest results of our ongoing partnership offers the foundation necessary to craft entirely new experiences that use push messaging to reach out and deliver greater value to users."
"We are delighted to partner with Urban Airship to bring enterprises and developers a whole new way to use push notifications," said Sravish Sridhar, Founder and CEO of Kinvey. "This integration means that Kinvey and Urban Airship give application developers the ability to use any data sources directly from the Kinvey SDK, write business logic that can trigger push notifications based on changing data in the Kinvey or 3rd-party backend, and send those notifications to any iOS or Android device."
Kinvey's "Success Pricing" enables developers to build what they want without budgeting for each additional feature, offering one rate based on the number of app users for all cloud services -- push messaging, data collection, large file storage, geo-queries, user management, analytics and API versioning. Kinvey even picks up the tab for the first 500 users of any app.
