Calgary Homeless Foundation Calls For More Affordable Housing

(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/28/12 -- At today's 2012 Annual General Meeting, the (CHF) will describe how emergency shelter use is increasing as people migrate to Calgary for work and are unable to find affordable housing.
"While we are fixing the overall homeless-serving system to be more effective and coordinated, and helping a number of people with housing and support, more people are coming to Calgary to work and are unable to find affordable housing," said Tim Richter, President and CEO, CHF. "The most impactful thing we can do right now is add more low-rent housing in Calgary and continue our focus on rehousing long-term shelter stayers."
More details on this situation and the progress being made on the 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness in Calgary will be provided at the Annual General Meeting scheduled today from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Pumphouse Theatre (2140 Pumphouse Avenue S.W.).
