Media Advisory/Human Rights Hearing Resumes: Union and Complainants Will Respond to Long-Anticipated Development

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/03/12 -- Medical adjudicators who work for the Canadian Pension Plan Disability Program and are represented by the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) have been pursuing a complaint of gender discrimination against the federal government at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT) since 2004.

In 2007, the Tribunal found that the federal government was liable for discrimination going back as far as 1978 but the issue of a remedy and compensation has not yet been resolved.

The case has grown to include hundreds of complainants.

The Hearing into Walden et al. v Canada will resume on Tuesday July 3rd at 9.30 AM at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, Hearing Room #1, 160 Elgin Street, 11th Floor.

The Professional Institute, its legal counsel and a group of complainants will be at the hearing and available at a news conference on July 3 at 12.30 p.m. at the National Press Theatre.
