EXPO REAL survey: Property market in Germany expected to recover fastest
An EXPO REAL survey on the outlook for the property market in 2009 showed that experts believe the bottom of the cycle is yet to come. It also revealed that the German property market is generally thought to have the best prospects for a fast recovery. The survey was conducted by EXPO REAL among industry experts and trade journalists from Germany and abroad who were accredited for the last event. This year´s EXPO REAL, taking place in Munich from 5 to 7 October 2009, is the 12th International Commercial Property Exposition.
(firmenpresse) - "Despite the mood of crisis in the sector around the world, we are quietly confident about EXPO REAL in autumn. This show benefits from the fact that it takes place in the business location of Germany, the country which on an international comparison has the most stable property market," said Eugen Egetenmeir, a member of the Management Board of Messe München.
The survey respondents are expecting the international property sector to continue to be affected by stagnation, tighter liquidity, insolvencies and job losses. Overall, however, the experts believe that the European countries, in particular Germany, will recover the fastest from the crisis. In their view, it is office property and retail space that will benefit soonest from a renewed upswing. They also forecast good development prospects for logistics and residential property.
The topics named by respondents as most important for the sector this year are 'strategies for overcoming the economic crisis, and the background to the crisis' and 'sustainability', in terms of how to combine cost-effectiveness with sustainability goals in the property sector. These two areas will be given special coverage in the conference programme accompanying EXPO REAL 2009. This year the organisers of the fair are again inviting over 500 sector experts to Munich to take part in this programme.

EXPO REAL, the 12th International Commercial Property Exposition, is being held at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 5 to 7 October 2009. It is a networking exhibition for interdisciplinary and international projects and business. It caters to the full spectrum of the real-estate industry: property consultants and project developers, banks and investors, corporate real-estate managers, cities and economic regions, as well as property services providers. The fair´s extensive programme of conference events, featuring some 500 speakers, gives participants valuable insight into the latest trends and innovations in the real-estate market. EXPO REAL 2008 attracted a total of 1,856 exhibitors and 42,000 participants from 78 countries. The statistics for EXPO REAL are audited by an accountant on behalf of the Gesellschaft zur Freiwilligen Kontrolle von Messe- und Ausstellungszahlen (FKM, Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics).
