The Linux Foundation Announces Keynote Speakers, Co-Located Events for LinuxCon Europe in Barcelona
Linux Creator Linus Torvalds and Ubuntu Founder Mark Shuttleworth to Be Joined by Developers, IT Managers and Executives From Eucalyptus, Evernote, Open Materials, SUSE and More

(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/25/12 -- The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, today announced keynote confirmations and co-located events for LinuxCon Europe and the Embedded Linux Conference Europe (ELCE) taking place in Barcelona, Spain at Hotel Fira Palace Nov. 5-7, 2012.
LinuxCon Europe, which debuted in 2011 to a sold-out crowd in Prague, brings together the best and brightest from the Linux community, including developers, system administrators, business executives and operations experts. LinuxCon Europe offers top-notch speaking talent (from across Europe and around the globe), an abundance of innovative program content, and a wide variety of opportunities to connect with peers.
The following keynote presenters are confirmed to speak at the Barcelona event:
will share the cost metrics involved in the company's decision to run its own Linux servers versus deploying Amazon Web Services to support cloud computing requirements. Engberg is a senior technologist and entrepreneur with a background in building secure systems that scale to support tens of millions of people. He founded CoreStreet, Ltd., and was CTO at Driveway, Inc.
will talk about "forward-looking development: the next evolution in enterprise Linux software development." Flaxa leads the worldwide development team for SUSE Linux solutions. He's been contributing to the Linux community since 1991.
will talk about how open source cloud platforms are liberating application workloads to run across public, private, hybrid and ultimately mobile clouds. Mickos is an open source and cloud pioneer and was previously the CEO of MySQL, which was sold to Sun Microsystems in 2008. He is on the board of a variety of technology companies.
will discuss her research as it relates to open hardware. Mota is a TED Fellow, co-chair of the 2012 Open Hardware Summit and a member of NYC Resistor and OSHWA.
will talk about how Ubuntu is advancing the user experience both on the desktop and in the cloud. In addition to founding Ubuntu, Shuttleworth is known for being the first African in space as well as having founded other startups and organizations.
will discuss the importance of Linux at Intel and how the company works upstream to contribute to the Linux kernel. Sousou's team drives Linux and open source software strategy and execution across all Intel platforms and technologies.
