Single-Key Library Managed Encryption Protects Data in Transit

XLS Enterprise Tape Libraries incorporating single-key library managed encryption are ready for immediate shipment.
XLS single-key library managed encryption (SKLME) operates transparently to all data protection and archive software applications. It is incorporated in X-Link, the web browser based remote library manager that enables administrators to configure, upgrade, and monitor XLS libraries locally via an intranet, or from anywhere in the world over the Internet.

First enabled in Qualstar's popular RLS-8350 and RLS-8500 Expandable Rack Mount Tape Libraries, SKLME allows administrators to assign a unique key to secure the tapes in each library partition. SKLME equipped libraries use customer-specified keys to access the powerful AES 256-bit encryption capability built into every LTO 5 tape drive. Tapes and their encryption keys are interchangeable between XLS and RLS libraries, enabling users to economically architect a secure, enterprise-wide data protection plan.
