Appoints Thomas Birmingham as Director of Regulatory Compliance

(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/30/12 -- (NASDAQ: ENOC), a leading provider of energy management applications for the smart grid, today announced that it has appointed Thomas Birmingham to the position of Director of Regulatory Compliance. In this role, Birmingham will drive EnerNOC's previously announced energy markets compliance program, capturing and integrating compliance requirements with policies and procedures to support EnerNOC's continued growth in serving the critical needs of electric power grids around the world. Birmingham will report to David Samuels, EnerNOC's Executive Vice President, who oversees EnerNOC's Risk Management Committee.

"EnerNOC harnesses the power of energy data to change the way the world uses energy. We are excited to leverage Tom's rich experience and proven track record in designing and implementing compliance programs within the electric and gas utility industries," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC.

Birmingham brings over 20 years of regulatory compliance experience in the energy sector to his new role at EnerNOC. Most recently, Birmingham was the Director of Regulatory Compliance at National Grid, an international electricity and gas company, where he worked closely with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as well as other regulatory bodies. He managed compliance filings and streamlined the capture of new regulatory compliance requirements. Prior to his work with National Grid, Birmingham was the Manager of Regulatory Policy at Bay State Gas Company, and a Utility Analyst at the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities' Natural Gas Division.

"EnerNOC has been paving the way for compliance in a highly regulated and rapidly evolving demand response industry," said Birmingham. "I'm looking forward to helping EnerNOC set the bar for compliance efforts in demand response and energy efficiency markets around the world."

Birmingham is a graduate of Boston University, where he received his Master's Degree in Energy and Environmental Policy, and of the University of Connecticut, where he received his B.A. He is a member of the Open Compliance and Ethics Group and the National Energy Compliance Forum.
