(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/01/12 -- Media studio Psychic Bunny will publish the solution to its murder mystery comic book, Qualia, this week. Psychic Bunny is behind Re:Active, an interactive comic book app released for the iPad.

Qualia is one of three comics bundled in Re:Active. "If you enjoy solving mysteries, you'll love Qualia," says co-creator Asa Shumskas-Tait. "Readers use a memory reconstruction machine that lets them pan around in 360 degrees in order to solve a crime," he explains.

The application also includes Tilt, an alien attack tale with a twist, and Indelible, a story that illustrates the fragile nature of memory. Because the app was built with iPad technology in mind, Re:Active uses gyroscope sensors, the power of a 3D engine, and a wi-fi connection to interact with its readers. If the time of day differs, if the weather changes, if you tilt your iPad, Re:Active adjusts the story.

Psychic Bunny saw an opportunity to expand the scope of comics through technology. "This is our response to the comic book industry's attempts to adapt to interactivity," said co-creator Jesse Vigil. "Fans are not satisfied with 'interactive'-branded comics that are just 'DVD extras' or animated cutscenes. In Re:Active, the interactivity is actually a part of the stories, which means that they can't be told any other way."

Since its release, Qualia, the whodunit mystery in the set, has been stumping fans. Using the Twitter function, readers have been sharing who they think committed the murder, but until this week, the studio had been quiet on an official solution.

"We're huge fans of comic books. At the end of the day, we created Re:Active to start a conversation about what comic books can be in the 21st Century," said Vigil. "We hope that the people who download our app keep that conversation going," Shumskas-Tait added. "We hope this inspires people to make their own active comics and pushes them to think about the future of comic books. We want them to use this interactive capability to its fullest extent."

The solution was pushed out to iPads this week. Re:Active is free and can be downloaded from Apple's App Store.
