BDI - BioEnergy International AG creates the basis for a successful
future via strategic realignment and large commissions
09.08.2012 / 08:10
---------------------------------------------------------------------
- BDI is building the largest BioDiesel plant in France
- BioCRACK pilot plant opened successfully in Vienna / Schwechat in
co-operation with OMV
- Negotiations are being held about further international commissions for
the BDI Multi-Feedstock Technology
- Annual Shareholders' Meeting approves dividend payment
- Strategic action plan to guarantee future growth
(Grambach, 09.08.2012) BDI - BioEnergy International AG succeeded in
obtaining further commissions for building new plants in the first half of
2012. The company has established the BioCRACK Technology as a new area of
operation with impressive potential alongside the business with BioGas and
BioDiesel plants. The total orders on hand currently amount to EUR 28.5
million compared with EUR 22.2 million in the second quarter of 2011. Sales
in the first half of the year totalled EUR 15.2 million following EUR 17.4
million in the previous year, while EBIT reached EUR 0.4 million for this
period of what the company has communicated as a transition year.
The figures reflect the difficult economic environment in which BDI is
operating at the present time. 2012 has been planned as a transition year,
in which the company is being positioned successfully in the context of a
strategic realignment exercise. BDI's portfolio is to be broadened, with
the aim of transforming the company from being a specialised plant
manufacturer for the BioDiesel and BioGas industry to being a comprehensive
supplier of complex industrial green tech solutions. Entering new segments
(waste and residual material recycling and BioGas plants for industrial
users) has been a major step in this direction; new commissions and
inquiries received from the market are confirmation that this strategy is
correct.
Mechanical construction of the BioGas plant build in Etampés, France, with
an order volume of EUR 4.45 million, finished in the second quarter of
2012. Following its complete biological start-up, the plant will supply 4
000 households with renewable energy by processing waste food. What will in
future be the largest Multi-Feedstock BioDiesel plant in the country is
also being built in France. The plant will be producing high-quality
BioDiesel from waste materials. The order volume amounts to EUR 16.4
million.
The BioCRACK project, which BDI is carrying out in co-operation with the
European mineral oil company OMV, is particularly significant. Following
lengthy trials over a period of years, the pilot plant started operation in
Schwechat near Vienna on 2. July as the first of its kind in the world.
BioCRACK means that diesel fuel of the highest quality is produced directly
at the refinery from solid biomass such as wood chips or straw. An
international market is opening up for BDI here. 'Green refineries' are
taking another step closer to practical reality too, thanks to the increase
in the biogenic content of the fuel.
The Annual Shareholders' Meeting of BDI - BioEnergy International AG held
this year passed a resolution approving the payment of a dividend of EUR
0.25 per ordinary share. This dividend was paid on 25.05.2012.
The complete interim report about the 1st half of 2012 has been published
on the website www.bdi-bioenergy.com.
