E-L Financial Corporation Limited Announces Retirement of the President of The Dominion
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 08/09/12 -- Mr. Duncan N.R. Jackman, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of E-L Financial Corporation Limited (E-L Financial) (TSX: ELF)(TSX: ELF.PR.F)(TSX: ELF.PR.G)(TSX: ELF.PR.H), announces the retirement plans of Mr. George L. Cooke, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company (The Dominion).
Mr. Cooke, who started his distinguished career with The Dominion as President and Chief Executive Officer in 1992, today retired from his role as President of The Dominion. Mr. Cooke will remain Chief Executive Officer of The Dominion until December 31, 2012, and will continue as Executive Vice President of E-L Financial until June 30, 2013. Mr. Cooke will remain a Director of The Dominion. Mr. Cooke's leadership and counsel will be invaluable to The Dominion and to E-L Financial during this period of transition and thereafter.
Mr. Jackman is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Brigid Murphy to the offices of President and Director of The Dominion, with immediate effect, and to the offices of Chief Executive Officer of The Dominion and Executive Vice President of E-L Financial, effective on January 1, 2013. Ms. Murphy began working for The Dominion in 2003 and since then has held a number of increasingly senior management roles, most recently as Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Murphy will continue to report to Mr. Cooke and focus on her increased accountabilities at The Dominion until she becomes President and Chief Executive Officer on January 1, 2013. The role of Chief Operating Officer will not be filled at this time.
