In a medical malpractice case filed in the District Court, Clark County, Nevada, CASE NO.: A-09-599056-C, a Las Vegas jury returned a verdict of $420,696.89 on August 1, 2012 for damages to a patient against a medical doctor. The doctor performed the breast implant surgery in his office without general anesthesia or IV sedation. The surgery lasted more than 7 1/2 hours. In the weeks following the surgery, the incision on the right breast healed slowly until it eventually opened requiring a second surgery on the right breast. The doctor performed the second surgery again in his office and again it was performed without general anesthesia or IV sedation. The surgery was only on the right breast and this time it took the doctor 8 hours to perform. The incision once again reopened. At that point, the patient required hospitalization to remove the implants and she was placed on IV antibiotics for infection control.
