iMomentous Report Finds Most of the Fortune 500 Unprepared for Shift to Mobile Web
Nearly 90 Percent of Fortune 500 Companies Lack Mobile-Optimized Career Sites, Despite Rapidly Growing Adoption of Mobile Devices

(firmenpresse) - HORSHAM, PA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/16/12 -- , delivering a highly scalable that enables companies to recruit, retain and engage their talent, today announced the release of its latest research, "Corporate Mobile Readiness Report." Aimed at evaluating the Fortune 500's presence on the mobile web, the report found that very few companies are providing a stellar mobile candidate experience for job seekers.
The report highlights the fact that the use of mobile web access continues to rise, with research from Pew indicating that half of all American adults use a smartphone and 44 percent of mobile device users access the internet through their phones. Additionally, projections from Morgan Stanley suggest that the mobile web will be more prevalent than desktop internet by 2015. In light of these statistics, iMomentous conducted this research to evaluate how prepared corporations are for this inevitable shift.
In order to evaluate the mobile readiness of a corporation, the researchers visited the websites of the Fortune 500 using an iPhone to answer the following four questions:
1. Is the corporate website optimized when accessed by a mobile device?
2. If yes, is there a careers link available?
3. Is there a mobile-optimized careers section?
4. If yes, is there a ?
Additional searches were conducted to determine if the company offered any native mobile apps for consumers or job seekers. Based on these criteria, each corporation was given an overall Corporate Mobile Readiness Index (CMRi) score. Some key findings include:
Of the 141 companies with a mobile-optimized corporate site, just 23 have a link to Careers or Jobs.
Only 65 companies have a mobile-optimized career section, and merely 11 of those have a mobile-optimized application process.
There was only one company in the Fortune 500 that met all six criteria for mobile readiness.
"The results of our research show that very few of the Fortune 500 provide job seekers with a candidate experience optimized for their mobile devices. If the Fortune 500 is struggling to embrace the mobile web, it is likely that most other organizations are lagging behind as well," said Ed Newman, vice president of Strategy for iMomentous. "But the goal of this report is not only to highlight the shortcomings of companies in preparing for the mobile web; it is also to provide a scoring methodology and framework to enable any organization to look at their own processes, rank themselves against the Fortune 500, and determine the steps they can take to improve their readiness to engage the growing number of mobile candidates."
