Microsoft Store Honors Junior Achievement of Northern New England
Financial Literacy Education Organization Receives $1 Million Technology Donation

(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/23/12 -- In celebration of the Microsoft Store's Grand Opening at The Shops at the Prudential Center, Microsoft today presented a donation of $1 million worth of software and 10 Windows PCs to financial literacy education organization Junior Achievement of Northern New England at the store's ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this morning.
The generous donation will be used to support Junior Achievement's mission to educate K-12 students about financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship through experiential, hands-on programs. The organization, who every year serves more than 7,000 youths in Boston-area neighborhoods, was also able to select two community partners, as part of the donation -- the Boston Foundation and Rodman Ride for Kids -- who will each receive $250,000 worth of Microsoft software and 10 Windows PCs.
"Junior Achievement of Northern New England is truly grateful to Microsoft for their incredible commitment to the communities in which we live and work," said Emily A. Neill, president of Junior Achievement of Northern New England. "Their generous donation will allow our organization to impact literally thousands of 'at-risk' youth -- our future workforce -- by teaching them important skills necessary to succeed in the working world."
The Microsoft Store offers a curated selection of products including Windows PCs, the latest Xbox consoles and games, Windows Phones, hundreds of first- and third-party software titles and more. Customers can also learn new technology skills in the store's theater space, and work with the store's friendly experts for personalized PC setup and training.
"We're thrilled that through The Microsoft Store, we have a chance to extend Microsoft's commitment to the local community. We hope the community will see us as a local technology resource and keep coming back after the grand opening festivities to learn new technology skills and use our theater space for community events," said Ty Hapworth, Microsoft Store Manager.
