Mayor Curtatone to Headline a September 20th Webcast on Open Data as the Innovation Equalizer for Small Towns

Curtatone today unveiled New England's first Socrata-powered Open Data Cloud, adding the City of Somerville, population 78,000, to the ranks of the and Socrata customers like New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Austin and Seattle.
The new cloud-based portal, located at , will serve as a strategic data platform that supports cost-saving innovations in how Somerville delivers actionable information to residents; deploys digital services; makes data-driven decisions; and engages communities in problem-solving.

The initial launch of the site offers residents in their neighborhoods by location, type, date and status. The intuitive map-based 311 Explorer application allows citizens to check the status of their own tickets, understand what is happening in their communities and compare service levels across different city departments like public works, traffic, parking and inspection services.
