Texas Medical Center's Renowned Hand Specialist Dr. Evan D. Collins Featured in Leading Orthopedic Journal, as Findings of His Recently Published Study on the Anterior Oblique Ligament of the Thumb Becomes Available to the Medical Community

The journal recently accepted Collins' research study and published his article, in their June issue.

The work establishes new imaging protocol in the accurate assessment of the anterior oblique ligament of the thumb and is one of many research studies Collins has conducted over the years focusing on the understanding and preservation of the small bones and joints of the hand, wrist and elbow.

Dr. Collins, who holds a faculty appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College, has through his research contributed to the medical community's understanding of the hand and upper extremity and influenced treatments for more effective outcomes of common and complex injuries and conditions.

As a speaker at both national and international medical symposiums, Dr. Collins not only shares his research findings with the medical community but encourages ongoing research efforts of colleagues around the world. His work as a surgeon as well as a researcher and educator has placed him among the top one percent of specialists in his field as identified by the physician-led selection team of Castle Connolly and its listing of .

The U.S. News & World Report in partnership with Castle Connolly identified Dr. Collins among an elite group of orthopedic physicians who rank nationally in 11 specialities and "high" in two.

According to Dr. Collins, research is fundamental to the progression of medicine -- and contribution to medical journals accessible to the broader medical community is as much an obligation for physicians as it is a privilege.
