Dr. Anna Pavlick, Leading NYC Oncologist, and Christopher Martin Appearing on Fox & Friends September 27 to Discuss Foundation Committed to Fighting Melanoma
Coinciding With the 4th Annual Landa J. Martin Fundraiser to Be Held at the New York Stock Exchange

Martin Foundation, fightingmelanomawithstyle.org, announced that its co-founder, Christopher Martin, and leading oncologist Dr. Anna Pavlick will appear on Fox & Friends Thursday, September 27, 2012. Their appearance coincides with the 4th Annual Landa J. Martin Fundraiser to be held on September 27, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the New York Stock Exchange.
The Landa J. Martin Foundation was created in 2010 in memory of Landa Martin to raise funds to support extensive melanoma research, provide education, and awareness of the disease.
Dr. Anna Pavlick will discuss some of the recent advances in the treatment of melanoma as well as the obstacles facing individuals with the condition.
The American Cancer Society's most recent estimates for melanoma in the United States are:
Incidence rates for melanoma have been rising for at least 30 years.
In 2012, recent estimates from the American Cancer Society suggest 76,250 new melanomas will be diagnosed (about 44,250 in men and 32,000 in women).
For 2012, ACS calculates that 9,180 people are expected to die of melanoma (about 6,060 men and 3,120 women).
In 2010, there were about 68,000 new cases of melanoma and about 8,700 deaths in the United States, up from 48,000 cases and 7,700 deaths in 2000, according to the American Cancer Society
Dr. Pavlick is definitely a physician on a mission to develop effective therapies to treat melanoma. She spends two days a week doing clinical research focusing on identifying risk factors and markers of melanoma progression and the development of therapies that will be effective in the treatment of melanoma.
She describes the program she heads at NYU as "cutting-edge." Her research takes a multi-disciplinary approach to the care of its patients as she collaborates with teams of surgical, medical and radiation oncologists, dermatologists, pathologists and support staff.
Chris Martin, founder of the Landa J. Martin Foundation, is also CEO of Greywolf Execution Partners, an NYSE Member firm; he took on the effort as "part of continuing the legacy of Landa, and to raise awareness of the cause."
