Real Estate Attorney Linda S. Koffman Named to Daily Journal's List of California's Top 30 Real Estate Lawyers for 2012

Ms. Koffman was prominently featured in the front page article "Portfolio Purchases on the Rise" on June 27th. That article highlighted her role as lead attorney in the largest sale in Los Angeles County in 2011 -- a $90 million dollar sale of five creative in the Santa Monica area of Southern California.
"The transaction was extremely complex and involved issues," states Ms. Koffman. "By packaging these properties together as part of a commercial portfolio, instead of selling them off individually, our client was able to command a higher price for its investors, keep down its transactional costs and attract institutional buyers. It was ultimately a great exit strategy for my client who received a higher sale price for the portfolio than he would have received had the buildings sold separately."
In the past, Ms. Koffman has represented the managers of the historic Culver Studios to acquire 50 acres of property in Albuquerque, New Mexico to develop a 500,000 square foot independent motion picture and television studio. The transaction included the formation of a joint venture, mezzanine and construction financing. She has also represented a national investment advisor in the acquisition of a portfolio of industrial properties located in the States of Washington, California and Arizona with a total of over three million square feet of space. The value of the portfolio was in excess of $150,000,000.
Ms. Koffman's national practice concentrates on property acquisition, disposition, construction, operation, leasing and joint ventures of office buildings, industrial parks, multi-family residential projects and shopping centers as well as secured financing and the restructuring, workout and foreclosure of troubled real estate projects. Her clients are private opportunity funds, pension funds, pension fund advisors, real estate owners, insurance companies, developers, institutional investors, lenders, contractors and asset management companies located in the states of California, Connecticut, Maryland, Oregon, Nevada, North Carolina, Florida, Utah, Indiana, Tennessee, Washington and Arizona. Ms. Koffman's practice also focuses on technology-related leasing. She has negotiated over 400 transactions representing both telecommunications companies, such as XM Satellite Radio (now Sirius), and commercial landlords in connection with communications site licensing, leasing and co-location agreements.
On making the list of the Top 30 Real Estate Attorneys in California, Ms. Koffman states, "I am honored to receive this award.
