Tagged Announces Digsby Open Source Initiative
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/27/12 -- , the social network for meeting new people, today announced plans to open source its product, allowing the larger community to enhance and expand one of the Internet's most beloved communications tools.
Just over a year after Digsby's acquisition by Tagged, the company has made the decision to open source the Digsby platform on , while continuing to support the community.
"After much consideration, we are following through on an exciting decision to open Digsby up and enable the community to evolve the platform forward," said Tagged CEO Greg Tseng. "As a team of passionate open source users, we felt that Digsby's bright future should be driven both by Tagged and the development community that has so often sung its praises."
Digsby was founded by a team of Rochester Institute of Technology graduates. Since launching in 2008, Digsby has been a leader in bringing support for all major IM, email and social network protocols under one easy-to-use application.
