Peter Mehring Joins Panel of Academic and Industry Leaders Presenting Impact of Temperature Monitoring Across the Cold Chain From "Field to Fork"

(firmenpresse) - ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/01/12 -- , a leading provider of solutions, today announced that CEO Peter Mehring will join a prestigious panel of academic and industry leaders addressing food quality and safety at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals' CSCMP 2012 Conference. The supply chain industry's premier conference takes place in Atlanta from September 30-October 3, 2012.
Mr. Mehring is featured on a panel titled Field to Fork: How Pallet-level Temperature Monitoring Improves Food Quality, Safety and Revenues," offering insights on how pallet-level temperature monitoring can help improve food quality, safety and revenues. This panel session is part of the track "Working Together: Industry/Academic Research in Action," which focuses on the results of collaborative research initiatives that bring universities, corporations, and government agencies together to improve supply chain strategy, processes, and tools.
Capitalizing on academic applied research and data from numerous field trials throughout the U.S. and Asia, Mr. Mehring, along with Dr. Jean-Pierre Emond (Georgia Tech Research Institute) and Dr. John Ryan (Ryan Systems), will discuss how up to one-quarter of all fresh fruits and vegetables in the U.S. are lost between the field and the table and how recent developments in RFID-based container- and pallet-level temperature and condition-monitoring solutions are enabling new methods for improving food safety and quality. A number of case studies will be shared, backed by data that includes documented temperature variations at each link in the supply chain and the impact on food quality, freshness and safety.
