Ingenious: 2-in-1 solution for more power in solar modules

Jurawatt modules now with an internal power optimiser from SolarEdge: new module generation is being showcased for the first time at the PV-SEC 2012

(firmenpresse) - Neumarkt - When buying a solar system, the power is the most important criterion. Nonetheless, what many system operators do not know: merely one shaded or contaminated module may cause the power of an entire PV system to diminish considerably. The industry has responded in the meantime: So-called power optimisers maximise the yield of each individual module. SolarEdge Technologies is one of the pioneers in this field. The solar manufacturer, Jurawatt GmbH, is now offering a module-integrated solution.

Jurawatt CEO, Patrick Thoma: "The issues of power and yield are always in the foreground as far as we are concerned. Hence, it was quite clear to us since long that we need to equip our modules with this development." After SolarEdge has now launched a new, ingenious and extremely efficient optimisation technology with "IndOP?", the time has come: Jurawatt is supplementing its range of products for solar modules with an integrated power optimiser. The outcome: Yields enhanced by up to 25 %! The new development is being showcased and presented jointly with J.v.G. Thoma for the first time at the PV-SEC from 25th - 28.9.2012 in Frankfurt (Stand 3.0./H 12).

Power optimiser from SolarEdge: compact, powerful and robust
"We decided in favour of this solution since it has a maximum efficiency of 99.5% and weighted efficiency of 98.9 %. This is the maximum that is feasible at present. In addition, they withstand the most extreme environmental conditions (Protection class IP68). That is an absolutely decisive criterion for our module developments", explains Patrick Thoma. Jurawatt has earned a reputation for itself not only with quality but, above all, with special types such as the desert module.

Power optimisation at the module level: the benefits
The new module-internal power optimisation maximises the energy yield of each individual module by MPP tracking. The power of the module is monitored continuously and the data is transferred in real time to a monitoring portal. In this manner, the maintenance is also simplified considerably, since defective modules are identified immediately with the help of integrated monitoring.

More security with the SolarEdge power optimiser in Jurawatt modules
The new technology ensures: As soon as the connection to the inverter or the mains supply is interrupted, the module voltage is shut down automatically. The same is applicable if the inverter is switched off or the module gets overheated. This also means less risk during installation or in the event of a fire.

Attractive for solar mechanics
The new module type can be installed faster now than was the case before with the use of the power optimisers. Less cable is consumed and roof surfaces can be better utilised - in fact, on the east and west sides. With the help of this technology, even Jurawatt modules of different sizes and ratings can be combined in one string. This also means greater flexibility while planning or designing a system and maximum utilisation of the surface area.
