Lotto24 AG expands online lottery brokerage to seven more German states
(Hamburg, 4 October 2012) Lotto24 AG is expanding its online lottery
brokerage in Germany. With immediate effect, customers can now take part in
state-run lotteries via the company's website www.lotto24.de in the federal
states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony,
Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony. The remaining federal states will follow
in due time.
Petra von Strombeck, CEO of Lotto24 AG, states: 'Having waited a long time
for a permit, we are now able to roll out our operations in a large part of
Germany. Together with Schleswig-Holstein, where we have been online since
February, we will now be able to reach more than 60% of the German
population. We are delighted for our customers that we are now finally able
to offer them our services.'
Only Monday of last week, Lotto24 was one of the first private companies in
Germany to have been granted a permit allowing it to market state-run
lotteries via the Internet. After an almost four-year ban under the old
State Treaty on Games of Chance, private brokers are now once again
permitted to market state-run lotteries in Germany.
Once the necessary online interfaces for brokerage are available to all
lottery companies, Lotto24 will expand its online marketing activities to
the remaining federal states as quickly as possible. The federal state of
North-Rhine Westphalia still has to ratify the new 'First State Treaty to
Revise the State Treaty on Games of Chance' (GlüÄndStV) before online
brokerage can be permitted. The company expects this to happen in the
course of November 2012.
Further official permits are required for advertising Lotto24's product
range. It is expected that nationwide Internet and TV advertising will not
be possible until the GlüÄndStV comes into effect in North-Rhine
Westphalia.
