RedBrick Pizza Worldwide Helps to Eliminate Childhood Obesity

(firmenpresse) - PALMDALE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/05/12 -- Continuing on its quest to promote healthier life choices, RedBrick Pizza co-founders Lynn and Jim Minidis have announced that the popular fast casual restaurants will limit serving sizes to a 16 ounce cup on all fountain drinks served in its RBP cafes.
"Serving 'super-sized' soft drinks can result in excessive sugar consumption which contributes to diabetes, obesity, hypertension, premature aging and heart disease," noted Minidis. "We're in good company with our decision. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently had the City Board of Health pass limits on soft drinks which mirror the Red Brick decision."
The White House has also put a high priority on promoting healthier eating and exercise among children and adults. First lady Michelle Obama has led the charge with her "Let's Move" initiative aimed at reducing childhood obesity. September was officially proclaimed National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month by President Obama.
Red Brick has also added more natural and organic beverages to its menu. These include fruit juices, with no artificial ingredients and substantially less carbohydrates and sugar than soda pop. Fresh, triple filtered water is also available.
The restaurant chain had already established a name for itself and built a substantial following by providing a healthier menu with less fat, calories and carbohydrates than other pizza purveyors. Fresh herbs and spices are used in lieu of adding excess salt and only pure virgin olive oil is used in their recipes. The company offers many healthy, natural and organic options including gluten free, dairy free and several vegetarian alternatives.
RedBrick offers guests an upscale blend of Old World charm with New World convenience in scores of Neighborhood Pizza Cafés™ across the U.S.
Their Fire-Roasted Gourmet Pizzas™, Fresh Chopped Salads, Fhazani Flatbread Sandwiches and Italian Gelato crafted with the finest ingredients provide a nearly endless number of ways to say Mangi Sano! - Eat Healthy!
