seafood due to the upgrading of facilities
Frankfurt, 15 October 2012 - With the successful upgrade of its processing
facilities for canned and frozen seafood, Haikui Seafood AG, an established
seafood processing company with sales in international markets and China,
has enhanced its processing capacities (output) of canned and frozen
seafood by around 2,100 and 3,600 tonnes per year respectively. As a
result, the aggregate annual processing capacity of the company - on an
output basis - now amounts to approximately 34,200 tonnes of seafood
compared to 28,543 tonnes as of 31 December 2011.
After having successfully completed the upgrade of its canned seafood
processing facility at the end of July 2012, Haikui has taken the next step
to further enhance its processing capacity by also upgrading its frozen
seafood facility. Due to the extension of this business line, Haikui will
be able to increase its output of frozen seafood products by around 3,600
tonnes per annum to approximately 27,100 tonnes per annum. The trial
production started today.
The exercise to upgrade the frozen seafood facility commenced soon after
the canned seafood facility had been modernised. The automation of the can
sealing stage in the canning line has enabled the company to significantly
expand its production of canned seafood products such as tuna, mackerel and
sardines by around 2,100 tonnes per year (output) to approximately 7,100
tonnes per year.
'We intend to at least double our existing processing capacity within the
next three years. With the upgrade of our canned and frozen seafood
processing facilities, we have realised one of our strategic key targets to
further improve efficiency and increase overall output', says Chen Zhenkui,
CEO of Haikui Seafood AG.

markets. The product portfolio comprises more than 100 different products
from frozen or canned fish and seafood, produced from a large variety of
species of raw fish and seafood, including prawn, crab, various fish
species and shellfish as well as cephalopods. Clients of Haikui are
distributors in China and overseas, located mainly in Asia, the U.S and
Europe. Haikui employs around 600 permanent employees and on average around
1,600 additional temporary workers. The company has an annual processing
capacity of more than 34,000 tonnes (output). The processing facilities are
located in the South-East of China on Dongshan Island, Zhangzhou, Fujian
Province. Haikui operates a streamlined supply chain including self-owned
processing facilities, in-house research and product development capacities
as well as warehousing and cold storage facilities while simultaneously
cooperating closely with raw goods suppliers.
