E Source Announces Winners of the 2012 Utility Ad Awards Contest
Pepco Holdings Inc. Captures First Place for Best Overall Campaign

(firmenpresse) - BOULDER, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/24/12 -- At the recent 25th Annual E Source Forum in Denver, Colorado, E Source announced the winners of the 2012 Utility Ad Awards Contest. Top honors went to Pepco Holdings Inc., AEP Ohio, and Xcel Energy for first, second, and third place, respectively, in the category of Best Overall Campaign. The ad contest was open to U.S. and Canadian electric and gas utilities.
An independent group of judges selected the winners based on message, creativity, results, call to action or brand connection, and overall impression. Judges included Mindy Cheval, University of Colorado at Boulder, School of Journalism and Mass Communication; Kristin Apple and Matt Bodien, Egg Strategy; Ryan Johnson, Cactus Advertising Agency; and Lucia Riley, SAS Institute.
"We received more than 600 advertisement submissions this year, a record number of entries. It was so interesting to see some of the new tactics that are being used, such as interactive outdoor displays, online placements on websites like Pandora, and industry-specific business ads. It's great that utilities are not only using humor and creativity to get their messages across but also targeting and segmenting customers so effectively," says Aleana Reeves, product manager of the E Source Residential Market Service. "Our judges were particularly impressed by the ads that increased brand awareness, website traffic, and program participation."
