Sunwing Passengers Take Advantage of Company's Hurricane Guarantee Policy
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/29/12 -- As forecasters were predicting the course of hurricane Sandy through the Caribbean last week, passengers booked to travel with Sunwing Vacations were offered a variety of options under the Hurricane Guarantee policy offered by the company.
Passengers due to travel to Jamaica, Holguin and Manzanillo (Cuba) and to Nassau around the time the storm was passing, were offered the option to change their departure date or destination, or request a refund in the form of Sunwing future travel vouchers.
Travellers already in destination were asked to stay in contact with their destination representatives, who were on hand at resorts overnight, for the latest updates, and where airports had been closed, to relay details of the rescheduling of their Sunwing Airlines flights back home to Canada. Guests at some resorts were also moved to alternate hotels until the storm passed.
As of Monday, October 29, with Sandy now approaching the eastern USA, operations in most Caribbean resort areas have returned to normal. However, travellers due to depart on one of three flights to Holguin this past weekend, were offered alternative vacations to other Cuban destinations. Additionally, some passengers in Santiago de Cuba and in Holguin have been moved to alternative resorts to enable minor repairs to damage caused by the storm to take place.
Sunwing has staff in all the affected areas and is continuing to monitor the situation and to take prompt, pro-active action as required. Passengers are requested to contact their travel agent or Sunwing should their travel plans be affected.
