Minister Raitt Commends Bell ExpressVu LP and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada on Entering Into Their First Collective Agreement and Resuming Work

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/29/12 -- Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, congratulated Bell ExpressVu LP and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) on entering into their first collective agreement and ending their work stoppage.

"I am very pleased that Bell ExpressVu LP and the CEP resumed their negotiations and have worked together to reach an agreement that ends their longstanding work stoppage," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations are crucial when facing current and emerging economic challenges."

On March 1, 2011, the CEP was certified by the Canada Industrial Relations Board to represent all employees, including technicians, of Bell ExpressVu LP at its Bell TV Broadcasting Centre. The employees have been locked out by their employer since July 11, 2012. Their collective agreement is valid until March 1, 2016.

The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
