An online replica of Anne Frank's Secret Annex has been launched by the Anne
Frank House and LBi Lost Boys, allowing people to explore the rooms where Anne
Frank hid from the Germans during the Second World

This interactive experience gives visitors the opportunity to explore the hiding
place as it was during the Second World War. They will be able to hear Anne's
stories; an extremely powerful and moving testimony of the story of the hiding
place.
Every year almost 1 million people visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Now
with The Secret Annex Online it will be possible for even more people to
experience the hiding place. Online visitors will also be able to explore areas
not open to the public, namely Otto Frank's private office and the attic. After
Anne Frank was arrested the hiding place was cleared of all furniture. A series
of photographs were produced in 1999 recreating what the hiding place would have
looked like. LBi have been able to replicate this in the virtual museum.
The Secret Annex Online is part of the virtual museum which is a central source
of information about Anne Frank and the times in which she lived.
Hans Westra (Director of the Anne Frank House): "We are always busy thinking
about ways in which we can reach more people around the globe. This was the wish
and goal of Anne's father, Otto Frank. He was the only person of the Frank
family to survive the war.
Hans Westra is extremely proud that the Secret Annex Online gives people around
the world the opportunity to visit the Anne Frank House.
Voice-over and voice of Anne Frank
For the English version of The Secret Annex Online, the voice-over was done by
Tamsin Greig, a British actress known for her role as Edith Frank in the BBC
series The Diary of Anne Frank, made in 2009. She has also acted in a great
number of TV series and theater plays. For her role of Beatrice in 'Much Ado
About Nothing' she won the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award. Anne's voice was
done by Ellie Kendrick, who, among other things, played Anne in the BBC series.
