TPG PSLink passes rigorous custom certification by SAP to integrate Microsoft Project 2013 with ERP systems

Munich, Germany, November 12, 2012 – TPG The Project Group announced today that the new version of its integration product, TPG PSLink 2013, has passed an extensive custom certification process conducted by SAP. The certification tests include all project management related use cases and extend far beyond standard certification. As a result, TPG PSLink 2013 is currently the world’s only SAP-certified interface between the new Microsoft Project Server 2013 and SAP as well as other ERP systems like Dynamics AX.

This time around, the product underwent an extensive “custom certification” process that included multiple test scenarios. Unlike the standard integration scenarios, which are limited to individual interface function groups and technologies (such as the PS-EPS scenario that “only” relates to the SAP project system), custom scenarios can be much more comprehensive and include complex use cases comprising multiple functions. This was why TPG decided to go for the second, significantly more complex certification variant. “It was important to us to have SAP validate all project management related use cases, and not only to earn the ‘SAP Certified’ label,” said Stavros Georgantzis, managing partner at TPG The Project Group. “Several of our customers have asked for this, which is why we decided to go for it.”
TPG decided to go ahead with the test based on comprehensive specifications for the validation of a scenario, which itself was composed of eight thematic areas comprising 45 business functions. It includes use cases such as employee master data, WBS structures, network plans, maintenance orders, primary and secondary cost planning, entry of actual CATS data, entry of CO clearing documents, and synchronizing actual costs. A number of performance and stress tests also validated TPG PSLink’s performance in synchronizing massive quantities of data between the two systems.
The first version of TPG PSLink 2013 will support on-premise Project Server 2013 systems as well as the earlier versions from 2010 und 2007. TPG plans to make a second release available in the second quarter of 2013 for the integration of Microsoft Project Online.
