In one major hospital trial, the app was shown to calm crying babies on 122 out of 124 occasions, usually in less than five minutes. The device was found to be significantly more effective than playing music or cuddling. A live test on the BBC 12 O'clock news was deemed by the presenter to be "Magic".
The recording was made using Doppler equipment and a specially adapted microphone. The sounds that can be heard are made by the mother's blood flowing through the placenta.
