"Most consumers are expected to take a conservative approach with their gift-giving budgets this year, making head starts with sponsored gift cards for shopping all the more important," said Hjalmar Winbladh, Wrapp's CEO.
The average holiday shopper is forecast to spend about $750 on gifts, décor, greeting cards and more, up slightly from the $741 they spent in 2011, according to the holiday consumer spending survey conducted by BIGinsight last month for the National Retail Federation (NRF).

When it comes to 2012 holiday wish lists, the usual culprits are on top this year: clothing, books, DVDs, video games, and electronics, says the NRF. But just like the last five years running, gift cards stand head and shoulders above all the others.
The NRF's survey found six in 10 (59.8%) of those polled want to receive gift cards this year, up from 57.7 percent last year and the most in the survey's history.
