(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/29/12 -- The Law Society is pleased to announce that a new confidential assistance program will begin on January 1, 2013, funded by the Law Society of Upper Canada with the co-operation of LAWPRO. The program will provide support to lawyers and paralegals in Ontario who are experiencing a professional or personal crisis.

Homewood Human Solutions™ will operate the program independently of the Law Society. Homewood Human Solutions is a Canadian-owned company with more than 33 years of experience, and an industry leader in the design and delivery of assistance programs and wellness solutions.

Lawyers and paralegals will have access to a full range of professional, confidential services. These include counselling, peer-to-peer support, crisis management services, substance abuse counselling, lifestyle and specialty counselling, as well as on-line resources and peer resource tools.

"By choosing an industry leader whose core business is to provide confidential assistance programs, the Law Society is underlining its ongoing commitment to lawyer and paralegal wellness. This initiative will help our members better serve the public," said Robert Lapper, Q.C., CEO of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Homewood Human Solutions has 1,100 counsellors across Ontario, and more than 2,500 in Canada. Their clients include several other law societies as well as other professional regulators. In service to Ontario's lawyers and paralegals, they will offer 24/7/365 access to a live-answer clinician. Homewood Human Solutions' counsellors are registered professionals with a minimum of a Master's level degree and an average of 15 years of clinical experience. Services are delivered within a face-to-face model, as well as by telephone and two online modalities, based on preference.
