Antitrust authority clears transaction - CTS EVENTIM can take over Lanxess
Arena in Cologne
Munich, 07. December 2012. The German antitrust authority
(Bundeskartellamt) yesterday has cleared the acquisition of Arena
Management GmbH (AMG), which is the operator of Lanxess Arena in Cologne,
by CTS EVENTIM AG. The transaction is now to be completed soon.
Owned by a real-estate fund, Lanxess Arena is one of the biggest and most
successful venues globally with capacity of up to 20,000 and up to 1.8m
visitors annually. Scores of concerts (i.e. Madonna, Udo Lindenberg and
Lady Gaga), well-known TV productions (i.e. Germany's Next Top Model) as
well as family entertainment and comedy shows are hosted in the venue.
Furthermore, Lanxess arena is home of the Bundesliga ice hockey team KEC
Kölner Haie and a preferred venue for stock-listed companies to host their
AGM like Deutsche Telekom AG and Lanxess AG, which is the holder of the
naming rights since 2008.
