New Campaign to Include Street Signage, Social Media and Promotions

(firmenpresse) - HOBOKEN, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 12/07/12 -- The Hoboken Chamber of Commerce today unveiled a new campaign designed to encourage people to shop, dine and play in the mile-square town this holiday season. With a tagline that says, "Heart Hoboken? Let's Keep the Charm," the campaign includes advertisements, street signage, social media, video documentaries of local business owners and public relations. Local celebrity Buddy Valastro, owner of Carlo's Bakery and star of TLC's "Cake Boss," will appear in television spots to air on Cablevision.

Retail and hospitality business owners everywhere depend on a robust holiday season for survival. Just over a month after Hurricane Sandy, Hoboken is still struggling to bring people back to its restaurants and shops. Many business owners reported lighter than expected traffic on Small Business Saturday, which took place just after Thanksgiving.

"Hoboken made international news after the damage we endured during Hurricane Sandy. While some of my fellow business owners have yet to reopen their doors, most of us are open and ready to serve our customers," said Eugene Flinn, owner of Amanda's and Elysian Cafe. "Bringing business back to Hoboken is a critical part of the overall effort to rebuild our wonderful town. If you care about one of the elements that makes our community unique -- the small businesses that line our streets -- then please consider doing your holiday shopping and entertaining in Hoboken."

On a "Heart Hoboken?" , the Chamber will provide updates on the status of various businesses as well as news and information from local retailers. For example, it will publish a list of gift ideas at various price points.

"Anytime I tell people that I live and work in Hoboken, their immediate reaction is, 'I love Hoboken,'" said Greg DellAquila, president of the Hoboken Chamber of Commerce. "Now more than ever, we need people, whether they live in Hoboken or in a surrounding town, to support our local businesses. Not only does their existence give Hoboken a great, small-town feeling, but they pay taxes, employ hundreds of people and donate thousands of dollars to local charities."

The Hoboken Chamber of Commerce will also host a "Gift Card Shopping Mall" later in December for last-minute shoppers looking to buy a gift from a local business. Hoboken Municipal Garages are offering four hours of free parking for the entire month of December to people who show a receipt of $20 or more from a Hoboken business.

The campaign will extend beyond the holiday season and include additional paid advertising in 2013.

The Hoboken Chamber of Commerce was established to advance a positive image of Hoboken as a supportive, clean and safe community to conduct business, live, shop and entertain. Its emphasis is promoting and advancing the commercial, professional, industrial and civic interest of the community. The Hoboken Chamber of Commerce connects hundreds of leaders in the business community and assists them in forming lasting strategic alliances with members. For more info, visit .
