(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/10/12 -- Representatives of workers throughout Atlantic Canada opposed to the Conservative employment insurance reforms will be converging on Parliament Hill on Monday, December 10, 2012, International Human Rights Day, to give Diane Finley, federal Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, a taste of what jobless workers and their families go through.

Daniel Legere, president of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) New Brunswick, and CUPE Newfoundland and Labrador president Wayne Lucas, both dedicated to upholding the rights of the unemployed in their respective regions, will be taking part in a press conference alongside CUPE National President, Paul Moist, and CUPE National Secretary-Treasurer, Charles Fleury, and Yvon Godin, New Democrat and Member of Parliament for Acadie-Bathurst, to criticize the negative impact on the unemployed of recent changes by the Conservatives to the Employment Insurance program. Media representatives are invited to attend this event planned to provide food for thought to the Harper administration on the consequences of the government's actions for the unemployed.
