Hoehr-Grenzhausen, 20th May 2010: The Airbus plant in Buxtehude uses IBS
AG's software-assisted Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to enable
real-time monitoring of its production processes. The introduction of an
integrated MES software solution, which comprises a process-oriented
production management system, allows for the immediate identification and
correction of defects, as well as specific web-based evaluations, i.e.
those specially tailored to meet the different user requirements.
Since implementation of the IBS software solution, the plant has managed to
achieve the projected reduction in the number of defects per module and the
corresponding quality-related costs. Real-time identification of the
defective component - during the production process itself - now enables
the technicians to localise the defective item with precision. Furthermore,
all data is available at the end of the repair process for evaluations and
KPI analyses (so-called traceability functions).
The need for a vast number of variants and the increasing complexity of
electronics products puts high-tech and electronics industry manufacturers
under an enormous amount of pressure to maintain the highest quality whilst
remaining competitive. An increasing number of electronics manufacturers
are now opting for the implementation of MES software solutions in order to
meet these challenges and increase their profitability and efficiency
whilst at the same time ensuring high delivery quality and achieving a
reduction in rework costs. IBS AG has specially developed an MES
application to meet the needs of the high-tech industry and electronics
manufacturers. Thanks to its modular structure the software can be adapted
to suit to any size of company, including mid-market companies. The four
services of traceability, quality management, production management and
compliance management form the functional backbone of the future-oriented
MES system, the modules being adaptable and applicable to suit the specific
