The International VDI Conference "Rotor Blades of Wind Turbines" to be held in Hamburg, Germany, on 17 and 18 April 2013 will discuss the most recent developments in rotor blades of wind turbines

(PresseBox) - More profit at reduced cost: This is the clear aim of plant manufacturers, suppliers and operators within the wind energy industry. Rotor blades are the key components in wind turbines since their design-based efficiency is decisive for operating profits and power yields. Renowned experts will be presenters at the International VDI Conference "Rotor Blades of Wind Turbines" to be held in Hamburg, Germany, on 17 and 18 April 2013 to discuss present-day solutions to optimise rotor blades of wind turbines.
VDI Wissensforum is the conference organiser supported by the scientific coverage and technical expertise provided by its conference president Dr.-Ing. Arno van Wingerde of the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES) located in Bremerhaven, Germany.
The conference will be opened by the Dutch wind energy expert Jos Beurskens presenting the perspectives of wind power until 2020. The conference will focus on such issues like what solutions are available to manufacture extremely large rotor blades, how to increase the efficiency of rotor blades, what materials offer cost benefits and what advantages are found in automated manufacturing.
The expert presenters will come from companies like Siemens Wind Power demonstrating options to reduce the weight of rotor blades, from the company LM Windpower providing an in-depth insight into the structural design of rotor blades and from the company Repower Systems reporting on novel findings relative to the failure hypothesis of fibre-reinforced composites.
The conference presenters' list will feature, among others, speakers coming from BASF Polyurethanes, Energy Division 3M, SINOI and Germanischer Lloyd Prüflabor who will address aspects of rotor blade materials and manufacturing.
