ETC Simulation Delivers ADMS Training System to Michigan State Police
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., USA, January 29, 2013 - Environmental Tectonics Corporation's
("ETC" or the "Company") Simulation Division, located in Orlando, FL, has
delivered to the Michigan State Police an Advanced Disaster Management Simulator
(ADMS(TM)). The portable simulator system was sent to the Michigan State Police
Emergency Management and Homeland Security Training Center in Lansing, MI.
The simulator is a full team training system with separate stations for exercise
control, incident command, and field units. In addition to the standard incident
locations that are included with ADMS, they have received additional custom-made
radiological scenarios. These new scenarios will help them prepare for hazmat
and CBRNE emergencies such as dirty bombs hidden in carton boxes or trucks, or
accidents with radiological packages. Trainees will also be able to measure the
level of radiation using dose rate meters, as well as establish decontamination
areas.
The number of scenario combinations that can be generated is unlimited due to
the SmartModel Library(TM). The instructors can create any scenario by placing
SmartModel objects, such as shopping bags or garbage bins, into the scene and
selecting the level of radiation or TNT-equivalent of the Improvised Explosive
Devices (IED). The physics-based simulation will show the correct effects of the
explosion and radioactive cloud dispersion, as well as the readings on the
trainees' radiation meters.
Marco van Wijngaarden, President of ETC Simulation, stated, "We are delighted to
be able to provide ADMS to the Michigan State Police. The custom-developed
radiological and decontamination training capabilities allow Michigan responders
and incident commanders to gain critical experience in how to tackle these
incidents effectively. With our true-to-life virtual reality simulator, trainees
learn better and faster. Additionally, ADMS will provide substantial cost
savings over live training."

operation (ADMS-ARFF and ADMS-Drive) and multiple level police coordination for
crowd management and riot control (ADMS-Control). ETC's signature True
Simulation Technology blends physics-based simulation, embedded artificial
intelligence, accurate animations, photo-realistic graphics, ambient sounds,
vehicle controls, and motion platforms to totally immerse trainees in the
exercise. ADMS enables first responders and emergency managers to prepare at
all levels of response in a safe, economical and environmentally-conscious
way.
