Project Now Construction Ready

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/13/13 -- Chieftain Metals Inc. ("Chieftain" or the "Company") (TSX: CFB) is pleased to report that it has received the Parks Use Permit, Occupant Licenses to Cut, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Works Permits and an amendment to the Special Use Permit (SUP) 23154, permitting an alternate access road route connecting the Tulsequah Chief Project in British Columbia to the Provincial road network. These are the final permits approving the access road route for the Project and the final permits required to start construction at Tulsequah Chief.

Mr. Keith Boyle, P.Eng., Chieftain's COO stated, "We are pleased to have reached this important step in the project after almost 18 months of working with the Taku River Tlingit First Nation (TRTFN) and BC governments to find an alternate route to the original SUP that met the objectives of the land use plan they signed in 2011. Tulsequah Chief is fully permitted for construction, including the improved access road route."

The realigned road offers significant reductions in potential environmental and cultural impacts compared to the previously approved route, as it will allow a 35 km reduction in new road construction, reduce the number of stream crossings by 24, avoid sensitive caribou habitat and eliminate any crossing of the TRTFN Nakina Heritage Trail.

Mr. Victor Wyprysky, Chieftain's President and CEO stated, "The achievement of this last permit milestone places 'The Chief' in the enviable position of being fully technically advanced, permitted and construction ready, and Chieftain is now working to secure project financing. The Tulsequah Project will bring great benefit to the Atlin community, the Taku River Tlingit First Nation, the province of BC and Chieftain shareholders."
