American Airlines selects special effect coatings for Fleet Rebrand
American Airlines is undertaking a modernisation and complete rebrand of their aircraft fleet
(PresseBox) - AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings, with a dedication to providing innovative and reliable solutions to customers worldwide, is providing the paint system and technical expertise to assist with the new look for the iconic and most recognised brand in the aviation industry.
The fleet makeover shall incorporate the painting of over 600 aircraft with Aerodur 3001/3002 Base Coat/Clear Coat, widely recognised for an impressive high gloss finish with easy coverage and fast turnaround capabilities.
American Airlines' re-invented livery features proud stripes and a timeless silver body, expressing the airline's origins and the spirit of modern America. The new look and feel is enhanced by a full body mica topcoat. The depth and radiance of this special effect coating creates a unique lustre effect reminding passengers of the classical metallic look.
American Airlines partnered with FutureBrand to create the modern look and livery for the iconic brand. Built on a multi-year successful partnership, they engaged AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings to work on color development, advise on the chosen paint system and to provide technical support.
Three aircraft; a 737-800 and two 777-300's; have already been painted, with a schedule of works stretching into the coming year, foreseeing a completion of 10 aircraft per month, by the beginning of March.
This rebranding programme marks a milestone for American Airlines and a significant change regarding worldwide airline brand identity.
