Agama Selected by TV 2 Norway for Head-End Monitoring and Video Quality Assurance
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
(LINKÖPING, February 19, 2013) - Agama Technologies, the video service quality
assurance expert, today announces that Norway's leading private broadcaster, TV
2, implements an Agama solution for service quality assurance in its
sophisticated head-end and distribution environment. With the solution, TV 2 can
ensure what enters and leaves its head-end and distribution sites really is the
best it can be.
TV 2, owned by Danish publishing group Egmont, is by far Norway's largest
commercial TV broadcaster with an extensive offering of basic and premium SD and
HD channels. To validate all incoming content and have full control of its
multicast playout, TV 2 has selected Agama to provide a solution for continuous
and in-depth real-time monitoring of its complete channel lineup, detecting
everything from transport stream problems to encoding and service configuration
issues. For channels with both a primary and a backup source, the solution
automatically selects between the redundant sources for monitoring based on
their availability, to always make sure that the monitored source is the one
currently used.
"Constantly monitoring our quite complex head-end and distribution environment
is essential for our service delivery, as its performance ultimately affects all
viewers," says Jan Piet Ballegeer, Systems Engineer at TV 2. "We opted for
Agama's solution due to its feature rich and in-depth monitoring capabilities,
flexibility and scalability, as well as its future proof approach to managing
multiple distribution technologies and services in a single and unified user
interface."
"We are proud to have been selected by TV 2 for this crucial task in such a
challenging setting," says Mikael Dahlgren, CEO at Agama Technologies.
"Leveraging the unique flexibility and scalability of our proven solution, we
have provided a cost and space efficient quality assurance set-up for TV 2,
allowing them to monitor all channels all the time - continuously and on all
content sources, even those with redundancy. This will form a powerful basis for
rapid problem discovery, structured impact and root cause analysis, as well as
for SLA management and follow-up."
As part of its end-to-end solution, Agama has pioneered in offering massive and
efficient solutions for operational transparency and strategic insight into TV
service QoE and QoS for the head-end environment, adopted by a wide range of TV
operators worldwide. Agama's video quality assurance product line can be
tailored for the operator challenges in any head-end environment with its best-
of-breed support for interface flexibility, advanced monitoring capabilities,
scalability, top-level presentations, and complete support for adaptive bitrate
(ABR) streaming and OTT technologies.
