Mexico's pharmaceutical industry faces unique challenges. According to an American Enterprise Institute study, Mexico's $15.5 billion market is plagued by counterfeit goods. Illicit activity in Mexico's pharmaceutical industry is estimated at roughly USD 1.9 billion per year -- with counterfeiting representing 81 percent of that illicit market.
