Opportunities at the University of Cincinnati Opening Doors Around the World

(firmenpresse) - CINCINNATI, OH -- (Marketwire) -- 02/26/13 -- On January 29, 2013, Douglas Prade walked free of prison after serving fifteen years for a crime he did not commit. In the Ohio Innocence Project, students from the have worked on his case since 2003, each passing the reins to upcoming students as they graduated. This year, their combined efforts found justice.

Since the Ohio Innocence Project was founded in 2003, thirteen people have been freed from undeserved time in prison. This is just one example of how the University of Cincinnati is meeting its responsibility to give students real world experience.

The University of Cincinnati has long been recognized as one of the for its relevance to the real world. Its alumni are known for achievements such as developing both the first polio vaccine, and the first antihistamine. Today, this tradition of achievement continues with students involved in the Ohio Innocence Project, the co-op program, and many opportunities to travel, study, and work abroad.

For in America, this is especially important. Having travelled to America to broaden their horizons, they want an education that opens doors. UC's co-op program gives them this, with the opportunity to find work with over 1,500 different employers during their education.

Co-op lets spend whole semesters in the workforce, gaining practical experience in their chosen field -- and getting paid for it, starting their careers. Supporting the claim as one of the best public universities in the USA, The US News and World Report Rankings rates the University of Cincinnati's co-op program among the top five of similar programs in America.

Continuing this commitment to real world experience is UC's internships abroad. In October 2012, UC won a grant of $100,000 from the Freeman Foundation to build links between America and Asia. Today, this goes toward placing students in working internships in Singapore for up to 13 weeks between study semesters.

These internships are open to all students -- both American and international. As part of its UC2019 Academic Master Plan, UC aims to give every student enrolled at the opportunity to gain experience outside the classroom. With $4.25 million delegated towards this goal and progress well underway, the University of Cincinnati is marking its place as one of the best public universities in the USA.
