The IT - Health Care company based in Pfungstadt – Germany, releases version 8 of its EMR / PACS and VIS software. This guarantees much better support for all clinic disciplines and clinic wide workflow could be realized.
VEPRO PACS - Release 8.0 EMR Manager (firmenpresse) - Already with last three generations of its EMR / PACS Software all modalities of a hospital could be fully integrated in storing and retrieval data. The crucial point is, that besides so-called DICOM modalities such as CT, MRI, CR and DR, etc., with current version the frequently occurring non-DICOM compliant modalities such as C-arms, video towers, ultrasonic devices etc. could be integrated fully and data is stored as a DICOM data set.
With the eighth generation of the VEPRO EMR / PACS all information of the heterogeneous modality environment now not only can be viewed in parallel, they also can be processed at same time. New in Version 8 is the complete integration of data sets from the radiotherapy (DICOM RT).
“The goal of every physician is to retrieve and process all patient information, whether image, film or medical reports, with one viewer and one graphical user interface (GUI)” said Wolfgang Kersten, Board of VEPRO AG. "This objective is in 100% fulfilled with our EMR Manager solution. For example CT study can be displayed in parallel with a film sequence of cardiology together with medical reports”. Of course, radiology or laboratory reports are also stored in DICOM format and so can be communicated to any third party at any time.
The current version of VEPRO's VIS is able to realize any medical workflow with any specific needs and characteristics from all medical departments besides radiology. The use of a HIS solution for this is less suited, because this is not process-oriented and build for administrative usage. Traditional radiology information systems (RIS) are bound mostly on one radiology workflow. Multiple cross-disciplinary work processes, to be changeable at any time, could not be realized with a RIS.
"For this reason, we have developed a unique and global workflow management system that the various work processes of all disciplines in a hospital can be modeled" said Wolfgang Kersten. A workflow in different medical departments must be very individual and different designed, e.g. workflow in the emergency medicine, surgery, cardiology, urology or in endoscopy. The VIS (VEPRO Information System) is the solution if with one software product the specific interdisciplinary work processes of a hospital have be implemented in digital way.
The VIS and VEPRO PACS facilitates user training through a common operating philosophy. One common database and a perfect combination and integration of both programs make sure that interface problems doesn´t occur.
In future administrative duties are tasks of the HIS, process and workflow management will be done form VIS and all image orientated tasks are taken over by the PACS.
