As Part of a Statewide Electronic Transcript Exchange Initiative, Parchment's e-Transcript Platform Improves College and Career Pathways for Students

(firmenpresse) - SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 03/12/13 -- , operator of the nation's largest , today announced that Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) have selected as their electronic transcript (e-Transcript) exchange platform. Parchment technology simplifies the transcript request and fulfillment process for students while unlocking transcript data that help education providers put students on the path to success.

CPS, the third-largest school district in the U.S., selected Parchment as part of a statewide electronic transcript exchange initiative (ETI) sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) in collaboration with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The initiative subsidizes technology costs for high schools and is designed to enhance services for students across the state. CCC, which receives a high volume of transcripts from CPS and manages more than 40,000 transcripts a year, selected Parchment independent of the ISAC ETI.

"With access to critical learner data, we're better able to transition students from high school to college to career. We can place students in the appropriate programs and classes where they're most likely to thrive," said Arshele Stevens, vice chancellor of information technology at CCC. "Parchment provides the critical piece of infrastructure enabling schools to turn transcript credentials data into intelligence that improves student outcomes."

Parchment technology supports CCC's innovative College to Career program, designed to ensure students are prepared for careers in growing fields and are able to seize the tens of thousands of new job openings over the next decade. By replacing manual and paper-based processes with modernized ones that bring transcripts completely online, the college can help students better align their academic credentials with ongoing postsecondary education and career opportunities. In addition, the Parchment technology creates operational efficiencies for CCC while simultaneously offering students a 24/7 online service to quickly order transcripts.

"Our students are applying to a diverse set of higher education institutions across the country, and the ability to send transcripts and records electronically is imperative because it positions them to be successful in the next phase of education," said Barbara Karpouzian, director, K12 Counseling and Advising at CPS. "Ensuring students' successful transition from CPS to their future endeavors is one of our most crucial responsibilities, and e-Transcripts are an important aspect of student support services."

At Parchment.com, CPS students can quickly and securely request their transcripts to be delivered to CCC, or any other higher education institution across the country or internationally, making college more accessible for more than 113,000 secondary students.
