(NYSE: VSH) today announced that its PRAHT series of high-precision thin film SMD wraparound chip resistor arrays has received a 2012 Design News Golden Mousetrap Award in the category of Electronics & Test: Analog/Power Management/Control. Optimized for high-temperature down-hole and aeronautics applications, Vishay Sfernice PRAHT resistors are the first such products on the market to offer the combination of an operating temperature range to + 215 degrees C and industry-high maximum storage temperature up to + 230 degrees C.
Design News' Golden Mousetrap Awards recognize engineering innovation and creativity in product design. This year, awards were given in five major categories: Electronics & Test; Automotive; Automation & Control; Design Tools: Hardware & Software; and Materials & Assembly. Winners were chosen from a record number of entries by Design News editors and a new advisory board of thought leaders from the design engineering industry.
To increase aircraft fuel efficiency, manufacturers are moving electronics closer to their function in order to decrease the weight of the aircraft by reducing cabling.
